The movie reviewer described the characters
as ‘pleasant, without distinguishing features’
but my brain registered disgusting
and I thought
that’s what we’re really after.
Who wants solid and stolid?
Give us libertines who
piss their life away in the fast lane
that we can read about
on wicker armchairs within screened porches in summer
while the birds and the bees and those libertines
are making beasts with two backs
and we’re secure behind wire mesh.
