Gone
What will you do
when I’m gone?
Rock in your stilted
chair, chewing over
the moment we met,
envision my misty
essence skating
the window surface
at night, study photographs
for fleshy orbs,
take on thirty new
lovers, at least one for
every day of the month.
What you will do
when I’m gone.

amazing !!!!!
Oh, Linda. Beautiful. This line, in particular, grabs me:
“envision my misty
essence skating
the window surface
at night”
Ethereal, and haunting.
I agree with De — skating on the window surface is wonderfully visual. Beautiful poem, Linda!
Love it, from beginning to end. 🙂
Aww shucks! Thank you so much, youse guys. 😀
Seriously, thanks for reading and commenting.
Beautifully written, Linda. Great wording and imagery.
“rock in your stilted chair” conjures up such a lovely, lonely image – I love this Linda G – it’s wonderful …
Oh yes, love this! Melancholy and… well done, Linda!
I want a Linda Hat, so I can think thoughts like this and put these images onto paper. Bravo!
Thanks so much for reading – and the nice comments! 🙂
Ina, Your comment appeared after I wrote my last one. I literally Laughed-Out-Loud when I read it. Thank you for cracking me up!! 😀
I mean when I read “yours.”
Linda, what a haunting lovely poem. I too love that phrase skating on the window surface-perfect!
Yep… count me in with the throngs… I did especially like “your stilted chair” great visual and also works for me on a deeper level of how the “you” in the poem might have a “stilted” “seat” or world view… Also enjoy the movement which perhaps because of the strength of the chair image has me rocking as a silent reader specter watching you watching the “you” who will be doing whatever when you are gone. Top drawer writing! 🙂
Sara and Pearl, Thank you so much for your sweet comments. I love hearing your thoughts. xox
Oh Linda, I hate to think about this – but yes, thanks, for reminding me. We need to think this way sometimes and since must, I love to see it this way, thanks.
